Lower Manhattan is the area located on the southernmost part of the island of Manhattan. It is home to well known landmarks such as The Financial District and the Ground Zero site.
Although this may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of shopping in New York, it does have plenty of stores worth visiting. J&R is an electronics megamart where you will find great deals on anything from digital cameras to laptops. Century 21 is a huge discount department store where you can find excellent reductions on designer gear. Also, you might like to visit the huge Abercrombie & Fitch Store located on Fulton Street.
Unlike most other parts of the city, Lower Manhattan tends to close up on the weekends so make sure that if you're planning a visit, you do so during the week.
