Travel from third countries towards the Community

For travel of this nature, the exemption:

Is to apply to goods in travellers’ personal luggage Provided that they are imports having no commercial character Their total value does not exceed EUR 175 per person May be reduced to EUR 90 for travellers under 15 years old.

The following limits are applied on journeys from US:

• 2 litres of wine

• 1 Litre of spirits

• 200 Cigarettes

• €175 of other goods

If your journey commenced outside the EU you should exit through the Green or Red channels at the airport. If customs officers discover that the amount of import goods is upper than €175 they may apply the local VAT and make you pay the real local price of your goods.

What can customers do in order reduce weight of their luggage?

• Remove tags on clothes bought in NYC

• Wear some of them home

• Remove packaging from electronic goods etc.
